Selfishness in Mobile Ad-hoc Networks: A Literature Review on Detection Techniques and Prevention Mechanisms

Constant connectivity is one of the most challenging requirements modern communication networks promise to satisfy. 5G and Beyond applications proliferation Internet Things (IoT) make mobile discussed research topics present, while already moving towards design specifications development 6G services solutions. Using multi-hop patterns, nodes can move around always maintaining their in a pervasive ubiquitous manner. New possibilities emerge from this progress, whereas long known challenges still exist evolve. One them selfishness or unwillingness some spend resources serve requests other nodes, not malicious but rather self-conservative While intentional misbehavior considered security issue, studied separately relevant literature has attracted lot attention. In review we attempt present leading on detection techniques preventive mechanisms employed by previous studies address problem ad hoc networks, identify trends during past few years, focusing primarily routing layer. We follow systematic methodology identify, select, categorize, analyze use concept-centric approach results forming comprehensive starting point for future research.
